Native American Healing
1:00pm 14.11.2009
On November 14, 2009, the American Corner in Yerevan presented a documentary about Native Americans. This film presented traditional elders and healers from a number of nations (tribes) who explained some of their ancient and contemporary healing methods.
U.S. Department of State English Language Fellow, Joanne Munisteri, led a lecture following the film. Ms. Munisteri has Native American ancestry and actively discussed various Native American nations, their customs and traditions, and healing practices. She also demonstrated traditional Native American songs and music. Ms. Munisteri brought several books, journals, and a DVD about Native Americans, which she donated to the American Corner and lecture participants.
About 40 participants from Yerevan State University and Yerevan State Medical University were present for the program, which was held in honor of Native American Heritage Month.
