Vegetarianism in the States
1:00pm 18.02.2012
On February 18, the Yerevan American Corner organized a public lecture by U.S. Fulbright Program Fellow Zach Goldsmith, titled "Vegetarianism in the States.” The lecture is part of the "Americans at the American Corner" lecture series.
The lecturer discussed meat consumption and the benefits of a meatless diet with 40 participants. Mr. Goldsmith also talked about the health, moral and environmental aspects of vegetarianism, noting that meat consumption has been linked to health problems, such as congestive heart disease. He also noted the environmental impact of eating meat.
The lecture generated a lively debate about the ethical and practical reasons for not eating meat.
